This is the central celebration of the Christian faith and one of the two sacraments instituted by Jesus. In The United Methodist Church this sacramental meal commemorates our redemption by Jesus and is a sign of the love and unity shared by Christians everywhere, for all time. The four-fold meaning of The Lord’s Supper is: a remembrance of Jesus' sacrificial death and glorious resurrection; a celebration of God’s covenant of forgiveness, love and hope; a reminder of God’s presence among us; and a source of grace which helps strengthen and renew our faith.
