UPON ARRIVAL

Should I bring my children to the service?
Children of all ages are welcome in church for the entire worship service. Do not hesitate to bring your children with you! All children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a special Children’s Message during the 9:00 and 10:30 AM worship services. Those who wish are then invited to attend Sunday School for the remainder of the service.
Do you offer childcare during the service?
Childcare is available during the entire church service for infants and children ages 0-3 in the nursery and ‘Ark Park,’ located in the main church hallway. You are welcome to bring young children before worship begins or any time during the service. Pagers are provided to assist in contacting parents if a need arises during their time away from their children.Emmanuel Community employs qualified, screened, professional childcare providers. Miss Ashley and Ms. Renee are phenomenal with the kids and provide a safe, calm, fun, structured environment.
Are there Sunday School classes for children?
Yes! Here is a little bit about our Sunday School (Ages 4-18).
Volunteer adult ‘Shepherds’ accompany children from the sanctuary to their appropriate classroom. For their safety, Sunday School teachers will not dismiss children after service until a parent or guardian picks them up from class. Sunday School classes from Kindergarten through Middle School rotate rooms each week to provide a multi-sensory learning experience (including a movie theater, drama room, art room, kitchen, and more). A list of locations by date and age level can be found on the bulletin board in the hallway to the Northeast of the sanctuary. Ushers, staff and church members are happy to assist you!
Greeters / Ushers
Upon entering Emmanuel Community United Methodist Church, you will be warmly welcomed by volunteer Greeters and Ushers. They will happily escort you to coat racks, childcare, restrooms, or the sanctuary for worship. Ushers will gladly escort you to open seating. Please sit where you would like.
Ushers are also able to provide large print hymnals and hearing assist devices. Please do not hesitate to ask for anything you need. Our volunteers and staff are here to help!
Where should I put my coat?
Coat racks are available for your convenience inside any of the main entrances.
Where are the Restrooms?
Restrooms are located just east of the sanctuary and north of Celebration Hall.
WORSHIP
What do I need to know about Nametags?
Each member has a nametag to wear whenever they are in the building. Visitors are encouraged to use one of the temporary tags provided at our main entrance. This helps us identify you as a visitor to make you feel at home, and to get to know you better.
Are Programs available for the service?
Ushers provide programs outlining the worship service and special announcements. Worship notes in bold black connote attendee participation, standing, or vocalization. The Hymnals are red, song books are black, and large print Bibles are located in the racks or on the pews for your convenience. Members and visitors are also encouraged to fill out the yellow insert to help track attendance and visitor information.
Offering
Offering envelopes are located in the pew rack on the seat in front of you. General donations support church programs and the day-to-day functioning of the church. Offerings may also be earmarked for the Capital Fund (to pay off the mortgage), Missions, and other programs. Loose change offerings support a different, featured mission each month.
What about Communion?
Communion in the United Methodist Church is an open sacrament. Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate. Communion at ECUMC is served on the first Sunday of the month.
Communion is usually served at the front of the church at the communion rail or in front of the chancel for those who are able. Communion stewards also bring the elements to worshipers who are unable to go forward. Ushers will invite rows one at a time. Once the elements are received, you are invited to return to your seats for prayer and meditation.
